Mathematics Summer Research Program 2025
Inspire Mathematical Discovery: Help Us Fund Summer Fellowships!
The Mathematics Summer Research Program supports Titan mathematicians with fellowships to pursue impactful summer research experiences. Students are paired with a faculty mentor during their session and also have the opportunity to present at a prestigious national convention. The fellowship covers their summer research work and a travel stipend. The department is looking to support additional students for this experience in Summer 2026.
Your support will launch CSUF Math students into a summer research experience that engages them in their chosen course of study, including close mentorship with faculty and the opportunity to present their findings at the prestigious Joint Mathematics Meeting in Washington DC.
Undergraduate research is a cornerstone of student engagement in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. It gives students the chance to feel like a real mathematician and the confidence to continue to pursue an academically rigorous course load. Being part of a research cohort like this allows students to experience the full research arc and forge meaningful, working relationships with faculty that they carry forward in their academic career.
Donations for this program provide students with the ability to develop oral and written communication skill; enhance graduate school workforce preparedness, and lead to a more robust Mathematics research infrastructure at CSUF. In 2025, students pursued research projects in areas such as: Apollonian metrics, translationally-invariant constrained heavy surfaces, arbitrarily hard unknot diagrams, the free Klein-Gordon field, and detecting bias in statistics and data science!
Together, donations of ANY size have a BIG impact, giving more students the opportunity for meaningful and engaging Mathematics research work! Thank you for your support!
