Warmth for Ukraine: Help Us Deliver Hope to Orphans and Hospitalized Children

In 2022, Dr. Shu-Chen Jenny Yen authored a social story to bring comfort to children affected by the wartime conflict in Ukraine. In June 2023, she was invited to the University of Rijeka, Croatia, where she served as a visiting professor. Her mission was to collaborate with Croatian early childhood educators and Ukrainian faculty at Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ukraine (LPNU) to share her social story and to provide much-needed items like food, toys, and supplies to the Ukrainian children who had been displaced by the war.

The image above depicts children who are facing challenges due to Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. These children have been given special lotions, food, and toys to help improve their well-being. Additionally, in the video above, we see a dedicated faculty member from LPNU collaborating with a local non-profit organization to deliver fundamental supplies to a nearby orphanage. Dr. Yen's initiative also involves partnering with the Child and Adolescent Studies Student Association (CASSA) to gather essential items for Ukrainian orphans and hospitalized children.

This winter, the children of Ukraine will experience incredibly tough times. The destruction of power plants in Lviv has left many without access to heat and electricity, making it an especially harsh season for them. We are gathering essential winter items such as blankets, coats, and warm clothing (clean or new) for Ukrainian orphans and hospitalized children. Donation boxes will be placed in the EC building from 10/14-10/31. These items will provide comfort and protection to children aged 0 to 18, offering a lifeline during this crisis.

We urgently need your help to cover the shipping costs required to deliver these supplies safely to Lviv, Ukraine. Every donation makes a difference. Your contribution ensures that our efforts to provide warmth and care are received. This is an opportunity for the CSUF community to extend its compassion across borders, supporting children in desperate need and showing the world the power of solidarity and kindness. Join us in making a meaningful impact on the lives of Ukrainian children this winter.
