The Construction Collaborative at CSUF is bridging the gap between Civil Engineering and Construction, by preparing students to understand construction as well as design. It recognizes that CSUF students will have a greater capacity for Industry leadership and impact in the workforce by having meaningful project-based learning opportunities that emphasize Construction concepts.
The Construction Collaborative is looking to increase CSUF team participation at the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) competition in Reno, NV.
The competition spans two days. On day one, students are presented with a problem statement, and they have 12-14 hours to devise a solution. The second day is dedicated to student presentations, showcasing their solutions to judges from industry and academia.
Competitions in general are terrific opportunities for students to test their limits under pressure and significantly expand their horizons and skill base. This competition experience is exactly the kind of project-based learning that will grow CSUF students’ intangible skillset. With competition categories of heavy civil, commercial, mixed use, design build, mechanical, preconstruction, project management, and sustainable building, it aligns with the intended growth areas of the Construction Collaborative.
Competition costs include: registration, travel, accommodations, student meals, competition equipment, and team uniforms. If successful, we will be able to send two additional teams of students to ASC!
Underwrite the cost for a single item of the student uniform. Polo shirt, jacket, or presentation shirt.
Pay for competition equipment for an entire student team.
