Close your eyes and remember time spent with a tree. Sitting in the shade while reading a book. Pulling a crisp apple from a branch. Soaring toward the sky on a rope swing. Trees are essential. They provide the oxygen we breathe, cool our cities, preserve soil and provide habitat for wildlife.
As a Level IV Arboretum, we manage our living tree collection, take an active role in supporting tree conservation, and have a talented team of true "tree huggers" who care for every tree on these 26 acres.
And trees do need care. Take our iconic Ombu. This stately giant, native to Argentina, arrived at the Arboretum in 1979 in a 1 gallon pot - a gift from the Huntington Botanic Garden. 44 years later it requires the tallest lift in Orange Country for annual pruning to protect the Ombu from wind damage and ensure healthy growth - at a cost of $6,000.
There are 2,167 trees at the Arboretum. We need your donation to support the specialized care for each and every one of these essential trees.
