The Southern California Ecosystems Research Program (SCERP) trains and supports underrepresented, first-generation, and urban-raised students to become the next generation of ecologists and environmental biologists.
Since 2002, SCERP has trained approximately 100 scholars, over 90% of whom have pursued careers in biology or a biology-related field. This effective program develops and conducts the independent ecological research projects that are critical to training students to become practicing scientists. Biology students at CSUF typically work full-time (or nearly full-time) to support themselves and their families, which limits the time and energy they can devote to these high-impact research projects.
Your gift will directly support our student scholars so that they can devote time to high-quality research projects and professional development activities. With these funds, scholars will purchase research supplies, attend scientific conferences (in person or virtual), and visit potential graduate programs, deepening the diversity of students pursuing graduate studies in ecology and environmental biology. Give today to support students, critical research programs and to build a stronger community of research scholars.
