Inspire Mathematical Discovery: Help Us Fund Summer Fellowships!

Thanks to Dan Black and Karl Freels, gifts will be matched dollar for dollar up to $2,500!

The Mathematics Summer Research Program supports Titan mathematicians with fellowships to pursue impactful summer research experiences. Students are paired with a faculty mentor during their session and also have the opportunity to present at a prestigious national convention. The fellowship covers their summer research work and travel stipend. The department is looking to support an additional eight students for this experience in Summer 2025.

Your support will launch eight CSUF Math students into a summer research experience that engages them in their chosen course of study, including close mentorship with faculty and the opportunity to present their findings at the prestigious Join Mathematics Meeting in Seattle.

Undergraduate research is a cornerstone of student engagement in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. It gives students the chance to feel like a real mathematician and the confidence to continue to pursue an academically rigorous course load. Being part of a research cohort like this allows students to experience the full research arc and forge meaningful, working relationships with faculty that they carry forward in their academic career.

Donations for this program provides students with the ability to develop oral and written communication skills, enhances graduate school workforce preparedness, and leads to a more robust Mathematics research infrastructure at CSUF. In 2024, students pursued research projects in areas such as: Hopf banding, isomorphic graph intersections, equity practices in mathematics, Euler's Office problem and more!

Thank you for joining us to give more students the opportunity for meaningful and engaging Mathematics research work!
